The New World Consort, a Canadian ensemble specializing in early music, performs a set of Renaissance, Medieval, and Elizabethan songs and dances at WBAI's Free Music Store on February 23, 1972. The performers include Lucy Bardo, bass viol and treble viol; RoseMarie Caminiti, soprano, recorder, and percussion; Robert Cowart, recorders, shawm, crumhorn, tenor viol; William Mount, baritone, psaltery, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe. The group performs pieces by anonymous composers, as well as music by St. Godric, Guillaume Dufay, John Farmer, Tobias Hume and Thomas Weelkes. The program was recorded in stereo by David Rapkin and produced by WBAI's Music Department. This recording was formerly cataloged as BC0709.18. Opens with 20 seconds of tone. Slight distortion three minutes from end of recording.
